Huge Setback for Arsenal and Unai Emery
Arsenal have been dealt a significant blow past week after his sending off following striker Alexandre Lacazette has been given an Europa League ban.
The Frenchman has scored 10 goals and has been vital for the Gunners and helped five.
While Lacazette has just scored one goal from the Europa League, he is still an important participant.
Though, he had been sent off with BATE Borisov in his European clash.
Lacazette threw his elbow backwards in frustration in a tussle with a BATE participant, linking with his face.
That meant he would miss the second leg in the Emirates which happened on Thursday.
Lacazette has been given an ban which means he will miss both legs versus Rennes.
No more last-16 games for Lacazette
As quoted by the Daily Mirror, the CEDB confirmed that the match against BATE on Thursday counting towards Lacazette’s prohibit and because of this, he’ll miss the following two matches.
“The CEDB has made a decision to suspend the participant Alexandre Lacazette for 3 (3) UEFA club competition games,” their announcement clarified.
“The player, having previously served one game, will be suspended for a further two (2) matches. ”
This may undoubtedly be a significant blow for Unai Emery while Arsenal should be in a position to beat Rennes without Lacazette.
