Even the Los Angeles Lakers push for the postseason isalso, for all intents and purposes, over. L.A. currently sits 6.5 games back of this 8-seed in the Western Alliance, and barring a torrid run over the last 17 games of the year combined together with the Clippers, Kings, and Timberwolves all falling, the Lakers are likely to get a jump start in their offseason vacation plans.

It’s already been reported that, due to this, LeBron James can see his minutes return and back-to-backs could be removed from the table. Also, Lakers trainer Luke Walton told the press Friday afternoon that it’s possible we don’t see Lonzo Ball again this season.

Ball has overlooked the previous 18 games due to an ankle injury, and while it was expected that he ’d miss 4-6 weeks with all no disease, his return was taken longer than anticipated. Walton took a step farther, stating Ball still isn’t near getting back onto the ground and that it’s potential he’s completed for the season.

We’ll need to wait till Saturday to get some more clarity, but when this is true, it’kindly mark the next year in a row which Ball would miss significant time because of accidents. The former UCLA standout emerged in 52 games as a rookie and has seen the ground 47 as a sophomore. It could be a brutal blow if Ball isn’t able to finish the year out, but with the playoffs looking more and more like a pipe dream, there is really no use in hurrying him back.
